long live McQueen;

Every girl has at one point in their life dreamt of marrying their Prince Charming. Whether he rescues you from a fire breathing dragon in the tallest tower of the castle or brings you back to life from a poisonous apple with a magical kiss, the ending remains the same. Each girl becomes a princess, swept off her feet, riding into the sunset with her perfectly handsome Prince Charming, living the cliche, happily ever after.

Don't get me wrong, I love Disney films! (Always have and always will). And thanks to Disney, an optimism has been brought into our hearts to breed dreams, hope and desires that push us to never ever settlle for less.

It sounds unrealistic I know, but sometimes fairytales do happen in real life (it's a matter of perspective). For example, The Royal Wedding. Blogged, re-blogged, tweeted, re-tweeted and hash-tagged to death, understandably.

And since the rest of the female population has always dreamt of marrying a European Prince, I suppose it would only be a matter of time (fashionably late of course) before my contribution to the #royalwedding trend.

Sure it was a beautiful wedding, with millions (literally) spent on decorations, security and champagne. But in the fashion world the most important part of the wedding was of course, the dress.

Alexander McQueen's Sarah Burton designed the dress for the future queen and with good reason too. None other would be more appropriate than the fashion powerhouse- afterall McQueen's designs exude the essence of British Royalty. The iconic tailoring, marrying traditional fabrics and lacework with a modern structure and design (let's not forget the 8-foot long train, stunning!).

And boy did Kate.. woops I mean Catherine, look every bit the future queen she would be: elegant and poised. It was a true representation of Kate's stylish taste. Ever so modest- nothing too over the top- that would overshadow the wedding or seem flaunting and yet all the while, beautiful. The lace sleeves and V- neckline added demure hints of sensuality.

She looked the part fit to be Queen. Comfortable and happy.

On a side note: Kate did her makeup herself (after extensive training with with makeup artist, Arabella Preston).

Finally, putting all fashion-critiques aside, congratulations to the beautiful couple, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. May they live a long and prosperous wedded life. After all how could we forget the delicate kiss on the balcony that these two lovebirds shared. They look truly happy and genuinely in love.
