gym junkie;

Along with fashion and writing, another one of my passions in life is fitness.

Fitness is another one of my many ways to vent and escape, all in the process of becoming fitter, leaner, stronger, flexible and healthier. Not only does it provide all of these beneficial aspects it releases endorphins providing me with long-lasting energy for the rest of the day and helps my skin naturally glow.

There are a few places you will find me in my "zone." Either at Jetts Fitness, whilst taking my son out for a walk, on my morning runs or my upcoming new hobby, netball with the girls.

Along with every occasion, looking good is a must whilst working out. !

No I am not talking about make up or straightening your hair, I'm talking about comfortable, colourful, stylish gym attire.

Think Adidas whites. Nike basics. Lorna Jane brights (I am a sucker for Lorna Jane and her amazingly comfortable gym wear! Well worth every single penny).

Of course each activity requires different forms of gym wear. Personally for the gym, I prefer shorts or tights with a colourful and inspirational Lorna Jane tank. For cardio outdoors, tights and shorts again with a bright crop top. For Yoga, opt for something a little more comfortable, maybe loose sweatpants with a singlet, or tights with a loose yoga top. For those cold winter mornings, bright Adidas tracksuits are a gift from heaven !

Feeling good in your gym gear will motivate you to get dressed and go for that workout, especially colourful brights ! I find they make workouts that extra bit fashionable and a lot more fun making you stand out feeling super confident.

Here is a  quick questionnaire I put together that may answer a few of your questions:

For breakfast I ate: bowl of Just Right, Zymil Milk (gluten and lactose free), breakfast juice and a banana.

In my fridge: Vaalia yoghurt, breakfast juice, grapes, strawberries, zymil and a naughty block of chocolate !

At the gym you will find me on the treadmill, doing ab exercises, squats and lunges, weights with my beautiful partner (for that extra push of motivation).

I love training: because it makes me truly happy. I find endorphins provide me with lots of energy to live my life to the fullest and help me sleep alot better at the end of the day.

I hate training: when I'm tired. I find it's a waste of time. There's no point! You may as well get a good night's rest to energise for a harder and better training session tomorrow. Rest is just as important as training!

5 things I can't live without: My iPhone, my water bottle, the gym, my friends and boy,  Lucas PawPaw ointment!

Favourite music: Whilst training, I find anything with upbeats and inspirational lyrics put me in a good mood and motivate me to work harder.  Ministry of Sound is usually good at this ! Make your own "gym" playlist with tracks like these.

Favourite cheat food: ICE CREAM! If I could, I would eat ice cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is my biggest weakness. Boysenberry to creamy vanilla... makes me drool.

My words of wisdom: Keep a food diary. It's important to make note what it is you eat that is healthy and unhealthy (it may put everything into perspective for you). Have a training program so you know exactly what to do when at the gym- otherwise you'll feel lost! Thank god my boy has helped me with this! Surround yourself with positive and energetic people. Avoid those negative personas who simply suck the energy out of you and life. Don't give up ! It takes time and lots of hard work before you notice a difference, but at the end of the road, it's all entirely worth it- you'll see results and you will feel amazing !

Finally, make fitness and health a part of your life, not just a phase. It takes that extra bit of energy and work but hey if it was easy, everyone would be doing it! Stop making excuses, they no longer exist! If you have a bad day where you don't train and eat bad, let it go and try again tomorrow, working harder. You don't get anywhere making excuses! With determination and ensuring you take all of the necessary steps to succeed there is no reason why you won't achieve your goals !

Stay positive and happy !
Gros bisous
