i choose happiness;

So these days, I've been a little gloomy and lacking motivation and inspiration. And how do I reverse this horrible, negative feeling? By surrounding myself with all things (people included) positive and happy- and a little vent & rant on my blog.

I sit down and ask myself... am I happy? It may seem like a simple question but the answer can often be trickier than solving a sudoku puzzle!

It's more than owning the latest Zara threads- it's an overall state of mind that isn't altered by our environment. It's the way we choose to think about ourselves and the world.

Here are the top 4 things I have choosen to focus on in order to change my sad and negative mood. Hopefully they help you too.

Happy Career.
There's a significant correlation between your career and life satisfaction. Every job has its unfulfilling bits and bad days, but its time to leave work when it truly is affecting your wellbeing. Choose something your passionate about. But in saying so, don't rely on your job to fulfill your happiness- "Oh I will be happy once I get my dream job..." The more you say it, the further you will be from ever being happy. Embrace the job you are in now, change your attitude and make the most out of it. The more positivity and enthusiasm you put in the more the universe will reciprocate in return.. say hello to that new promotion or job position in no time!

Happy Home.
I am a firm believer in a thing called Feng Shui. Its about the relationship you have with your environment and how the energy in your surroundings can affect you on mental, physical and spiritual level. By living in a home with positive Feng Shui attracts harmonious relationships and good health and abundance! Surround yourself with the things you love, decorate your home, room or workspace using your favourite colours, accessories and furnishings. Always open windows and doors to allow fresh energy to circulate through. This will always keep you reenergised and more alert. Remove any rubbish and clutter- I love a bit of a spring clean- releasing the stagnant energy always helps me feel more productive!

Happy Relation/friendship.
Another important key to happiness is feeling connected to others. Like I have mentioned in my previous posts, in order to create great relationships, it's important to have a healthy and positive sense of yourself. If you don't feel good about yourself, you're vulnerable to sabotaging, insecurities, dependency, jealousy and intimacy issues. Loving and respecting yourself FIRST means you know that you will be okay if your relationship or friendship doesn't quite work out... trust me, I'm still working on it!! By being single, it's an opportunity to set goals and work on any projects that you've been putting off. I find it's also a perfect time to focus on your physical and mental health and strengthen bonds with friends and family. It can get a little lonely and being in a relationship does have its perks, but things happen for a reason- generally for the better!

Happy You.
Put all of these aspects in your life into perspective and you will be one big ball of happiness. It's not a cure to all forms of sadness... I mean it's completely normal to feel down from time to time- no one can be happy 24/7. But it's important to always keep things into perspective, have a little time for you and weed out any unhelpful thoughts. Be grateful and appreciative and always be sure to surround yourself with positive, like-minded people. And if this doesn't work... buy yourself a gift... because sometimes retail therapy really is the only answer!
